Orca Scuba - health, safety, environment, quality - HSEQ

Orca Scuba prides itself for respecting and maintaining the highest possible Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards. We are a PADI accredited organisation, which we carry and promote with great pride. All our instructors are at least PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainers. Most have at least 1,000 dives below their belts, plus in excess of 100 student certifications. As part of our core HR and compliance policies all diving staff are PADI members. They are insured under PADI's insurance and liability policies, according to the required rules and regulations, and all diving staff are insured by the company through the Divers Alert Network (DAN) Professional Diver Policy.

Health

At Orca Scuba we promote healthy lifestyle, a non-tobacco environment and a moderate alcohol use way of living. Our staff works at all times in the safest ways and spends a great deal of time and energy on the wellbeing of our customer students and divers. The use of tobacco and alcoholic items is forbidden at any time during working hours and shifts and at no time are staff allowed to consume drugs, alcohol and tobacco together with and/or in the presence of customers. We promote both customers and staff to maintain a healthy lifestyle and regularly practice exercise. We take all precautions necessary to ensure health and safety of our customers before, during and after scuba activities.

Safety

At Orca Scuba we have invested a great deal in equipment, training and facilities to ensure the safety of our customers and staff. On our Rawa Island Dive Center we have built a full blown Emergency First Response room (EFR room). This room contains a secured environment for possible victims and patients of dive and non-dive related injuries as well as all basic health and safety equipment and material to provide first aid to victims and patients. All our staff have been trained as EFR responders and our MSDT’s are EFR trainers. Aside from this, in close cooperation with the Resort Management, we have trained a number of general resort staff as EFR providers. All Orca Scuba facilities have their own individual Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and our EAP’s, procedures and readiness are tested and improved on a regular basis.

Environment

At Orca Scuba we work towards a climate of total environmental friendliness, sustainability and avoidance of the use of goods and materials that are having a negative impact on the environment. We want to create positive footprints by doing good and spending a significant amount of time on education and promoting the wellbeing of the environment and eco systems.

Quality

Above all, we want quality to be in the core of all our activities. This expresses itself in:

  • The staff we carefully select and hire. All top notch instructors with a strong passion for diving, nature and the environment in general and a customer focused mindset
  • The time we reserve and take to teach the various courses
  • Reduced student / instructor ratios for all dive activities
  • The state, quality and range of our dive gear offered to students
  • General technical equipment such as compressors, scuba tanks
  • The facilities we use for classroom and dive training

At Orca Scuba we strive for the best possible customer experience by delivering a top quality service creating positive footprints.
